The World's First Event for Intensive Public-Private Dialogue on Economic Security

To strengthen domestic and international collaboration in the field of economic security, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will convene the Economic Security Global Forum Weeks during October and December 2025. This international initiative, organized in partnership with government bodies, and private think tanks and others, will provide a dedicated platform for concentrated discussions on economic security. Through this effort, Japan aims to establish a framework that promotes mutual understanding and cooperation among relevant institutions both at home and abroad.​

A conference and exhibition about economic security. To participate, reservation is required. The year 2025 marks the third of ECONOSEC JAPAN, with Professor Masahiko Hosokawa from Meisei University chairing the Executive Committee. The conference will feature exhibits by consulting companies, law offices, cyber security companies, among other organizations. At the conference, former Minister in charge of Economic Security Takayuki Kobayashi will take the podium, and a panel discussion on reinforcing the global supply chain and related topics will also take place.

A forum where experts from Japan and the US discuss the outlook of the economic ties between the two countries. The topics for 2025 are: (1) how Japan and the US’s supply chain vulnerabilities can be overcome through technological and industrial partnership policies; (2) how the Japan-US security partnership should be expanded and developed to strengthen deterrence in the Indo-Pacific Region; and (3) measures to achieve rule-based trade order by mitigating the US’s protectionism and balance free trade and economic security.

Commemorating the publication of economic security papers by young leaders from a US think tank “Pacific Forum,” this event will feature author presentations and panel discussions. The authors will discuss the following topics that are relatively new in the field: (1) multi-national cooperation in the shipbuilding industry ; (2) international politics related to central bank digital currencies (CBDCs); and (3) aid policies for Pacific Island countries. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions in the Q&A session.

The discussions will cover topics like new business model frameworks considering geopolitical risks and related transformations.

This event will gather a wide range of guests, including government officials and experts from Japan, the US, Europe, and the ASEAN region. The session will address issues facing the international community and examine how international cooperation should be structured to solve these problems from a geoeconomic standpoint. A dialogue among former US senior government officials and panel discussions such as “EU Plus CPTPP? Europe in the Era of the Indo-Pacific Region” are scheduled to take place.
